How to Trip Without Falling
It’s the aches in your joints at the start of the morning, but the resounding hope that this day will be better than your last. Small feats, like walking down the stairs, and enjoying a day out with your friends are hard earned, but yield great victories. You have a disability; a condition you must live with every day for the rest of your life. Your physical condition, no matter what it entails, should not stop you from leading the life you were meant to live. Though you may stumble, even trip, you will not fall, because defeat is not in your vocabulary.
As a child I stumbled so often my family quipped I had falling down to an art form. I became a master at how to trip gracefully, without falling down. I have learned through trial and error how to make the most out of my life. It isn’t about just surviving, or merely coping with something you didn’t ask for and cannot change, it’s about valuing the life you have, and daring to live beyond your potential!!!
1. Acceptance is Paramount- acceptance of yourself, and the life you must lead is crucial to your well-being
2. Modify your life to your needs not the other way around.-Life is too precious to waste one moment of because of your different ability- make sure you take the necessary precautions to be safe and healthy, and live life to the fullest.
3. Gracefully and determinedly dodge discrimination- encountering naysayers is inevitable-allow it to motivate you and not deter you.
4. Focus on your life’s purpose and not your pain- persistently pursuing you’re purpose won’t take away pain, but it will be a healthy distraction that is guaranteed to satisfy you wholly and completely.
